FINALLY THE BIG HOLE!

We arrived at the big hole this morning. I wish pictures or words could describe it but they don't and I won't try to either. We are currently spending a couple of nights at the Grand Canyon Railroad RV Park in Williams and then three nights in the park at Trailer Village. The Desert View Drive scenic stops are much better than the South Rim in my humble opinion. All I can say is everyone should experience this wonder.

Matt has gone off into the wild for a couple of days. Got a text he is at Buck Skinner Park in Williams which has trails to Bill Williams Mountain. Keep him in your prayers. I plan on riding the Victory around tomorrow and check out Sedona and see what it is like. Thanks for reading and God Bless, Art

ON TO THE GRAND CANYON!!

Tomorrow we are moving on to Williams, AZ home of the Grand Canyon Railroad RV Park for two days. So I'm just wondering whether we take the train to the big hole or just ride the bike up there tomorrow. After that we spend 3 days inside the park at Trailer Village which should be a real treat. I know pictures will just not capture the awesome and wow factors so bear with me.

Tonight we are staying the Meteor Crater RV Park for a night away from our trusting wal mart parking lot. It's ok but nothing to write home about. Except that is exactly what I'm doing, please forgive.

We crossed the 2,000 mile mark today and I'm afraid to add up the fuel costs, which for an accountant is like going through withdrawals. I think I will survive though. No matter the cost though, I stand in awe of what God has created. This just may be in the category of "priceless". I hope everyone is doing well! God Bless, Art

Tucumcari here we come

PALO DURO CANYON

We left Oklahoma City Sunday mid morning. Our first stop was in Clinton to visit the Route 66 Museum. I didn’t realize there are only about 33 Route 66 museums along the road. I did pick up the Route 66 Traveler’s Guide for a cheap 13.95. I think we have ridden about 10 miles of the old route and let’s just say it’s not an RV friendly road. I’m thinking a bike ride is in the future for the Old Mother Road. The Guide did though pay immediate dividends when it came to park for the night. See below.

We found this really cool canyon yesterday outside of Amarillo thanks to the aforementioned handy dandy Traveler’s Guide. They call it the Grand Canyon of Texas. It is called Palo Duro Canyon. Met a lady and her daughters at the scenic overlook who said this was better than the Grand Canyon. I guess we are going to find out if that is true. Last night there was a little musical at the amphitheater called Texas. I made it to intermission and hiked back home. This is really our first camping edition on this trip and I love it. We have electric and water woohoo. I even busted out the washer/dryer last night to do a load of clothes. Well this place is beautiful and we didn’t even have a reservation. It might be the best-kept secret in Texas. (note to self, there is no cell service when your down 1,000 ft in a 100 mile long canyon.)

Tonight we made it to beautiful Gallup, New Mexico and of course there is a rodeo going on which precluded us from our first KOA experience. Jeez a rodeo in Gallup of all places. We had a bunch of rain today that started after I took the cover off my bike. So here we spend another night in a Wal Mart parking lot. Tomorrow should be Meteor Crater in Arizona!! God Bless, Art.
